Dr. Mai Mowafy - Head of the Council

The Head of the Council and a lecturer in Linguistics and Translation at the Department of English Language, Literature and simultaneous Interpretation, Al-Azhar University in Cairo. She works as a freelance conference Interpreter & Translator. She has been a visiting researcher at New York University, USA, participating in the SUSI Scholars program. Dr. Mowafy also took part in the Fulbright program aimed at enhancing the skills of faculty members in linguistics and teaching English as a second language. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County. Dr. Mowafy holds a Master’s degree in Critical Discourse Analysis and a Ph.D. in Multimodal Discourse Analysis and Translation Studies. Since graduating, she has worked as a freelance translator, simultaneous Interpreter, as well as an English language trainer.

Joseph Nabil Makkar - Head of the Evaluation and Monitoring Committee

He is a founding member of the mentorship program and a consultant specializing in management, leadership, and business development. He has a passion for learning and development and is an expert in human resources management, talent management, business planning, development, training, and business consulting. He has extensive experience delivering internationally accredited and globally recognized training programs tailored to client needs, including Corporate Training Material (CTM) and Velsoft Material, both recognized Canadian programs. Joseph has conducted numerous diverse workshops, training sessions, and managerial consultations across various organizations throughout Egypt.

Iman El-Masry - Head of the Alumni Engagement Committee

She obtained her Master’s degree from the University of East Anglia in England in the field of Teaching Methods and Learning Leadership. She was chosen by the British Council as a model of an inspirational teacher on International Women’s Day and won a competition among teachers run by the British Council to attend the IATEFL Conference in England in 2020. She was selected as an educator in SUSI by the Exchange Programs Office at the U.S. Embassy in 2021. She is a TV presenter, a lecturer at the American University in Cairo, the principal of a British international school, and a teacher trainer since 2010.

Fadia Abboud Head of the Communication and Outreach Committee

Fadia with 20 years of experience in investigative journalism, women’s issues, human rights, and visual media. She has worked with numerous Egyptian, Arab, and international newspapers and TV channels. She is a member of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate and the Foreign Press Association. She has over 10 years of experience in marketing, public relations, and media production. An expert in branding, personal identity, and creating influential public figures, she is currently the CEO of Publications Agency for marketing and public relations, and the Editor-in-Chief of www.supereve.net. She is a 2019 IVLP program graduate, specializing as a journalist in human trafficking issues. She received the GIVE IT BACK grant in 2023.

Dr. Mohamed Moneer Member at the Communication and Outreach Committee

Holds a PhD in Philosophy from the Department of Basic Sciences at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Matrouh University, specializing in Child Media and Culture. He is a journalist and the bureau chief for the Middle East News Agency in Matrouh Governorate, as well as for Al-Bawaba newspaper. He serves as the media advisor to the President of Matrouh University and teaches Social Studies. Additionally, he is the Chairman of the Public Image Committee at the Rotary Club of Marsa Matrouh and a board member of the Specialized Children’s Hospital. He is a certified trainer accredited by the Ministries of Youth and Sports, and International Cooperation. Dr. Moneer is a graduate of the 2018 IVLP program.

Dr. Hanaa Abdel-Lah - Member at communication and outreach

She is a language teacher, translator, and certified interpreter at the Faculty of Arts, Sohag University. She serves as the supervisor and coordinator of IELTS exams at Sohag University in collaboration with the British Council. She is a certified IELTS trainer accredited by the British Council and a coordinator and examiner for the Cambridge exams at Sohag University. Dr. Abdel-Lah holds a PhD in Linguistics (Language Studies) and is a linguistic reviewer for the New York-based Natural Sciences Journal. She is an accredited educational supervisor by the US Embassy in Cairo and a simultaneous interpreter for the World Bank and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) from 2017 to 2019.

She is A journalist specializing in the field of economics and information technology, and a member of the Journalists’ Syndicate. She has over 18 years of experience in journalism, having worked for several major publications, including “Al-Masry Al-Youm” and “Al-Fagr.” She currently manages the “Techno Fun” website, which specializes in financial technology. She has also hosted radio programs, most notably the “Banknote” program on Nagham FM. Amany is a dedicated pharmacy student and Alumni of two U.S. programs; Nation Builders and Tech girls. With over a decade of experience in volunteer work, Amany has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. She serves as a Scout Leader and is an active media member of the Girls Scout Association. In addition to her leadership roles, Amany is an advocate for climate action and a member of ACT Sustainable. She has participated in numerous climate conferences, including the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), and has volunteered with various organizations such as IEEE, TEDx, and Enactus. Ahmed Hosny - Member at Alumni Engagement committee

He is a teacher whose journey in English language education spans 25 years. For 13 of those years, he has passionately worked as a supervisor and specialized trainer for English language teachers, always striving to enhance the educational landscape in his community. During his two-week stay in Austin, USA, he had the opportunity to experience various types of schools and interact with students across different educational stages, which contributed to the development of his teaching methodology and global perspective.

أحمد حسني هو عضو في لجنة مشاركة الخريجين. معلم يمتد مشواره في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية على مدار 25 عامًا. قضى 13 عامًا منها بشغف كمدرب متخصص ومشرف على معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية، حيث يسعى دائمًا إلى تحسين المشهد التعليمي في مجتمعه. خلال إقامته التي استمرت أسبوعين في أوستن بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، حظي بفرصة تجربة أنواع مختلفة من المدارس والتفاعل مع الطلاب في مراحل تعليمية مختلفة، مما ساهم في تطوير منهجه التدريسي ومنظوره العالمي

Heba Sayed - Member at the Alumni Engagement Committee

She is as a director of the Youth Projects and Training Department, where she provides vocational and professional training and awareness workshops for young men and women from the age of 16 to 40. These trainings help youth get job opportunities outside and inside the home, and help them establish their small projects in cooperation with partner organizations such as the Small and Micro Enterprises Fund to finance their projects. Heba is also a reproductive health trainer in these topics. She is the Vice President of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse in Luxor Governorate. Heba is a 2019 International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumna and received the 2021 GIVE IT BACK grant for her project on reviving traditional crafts (Al-Firka).

تعمل هبه كمديرة لإدارة مشروعات الشباب والتدريب حيث نقوم بتقديم التدريب المهني والحرفي وورش العمل التوعوية للشباب والشابات من سن 16 إلى 40 سنة حيث تساعدهم هذه التدريبات في الحصول على فرص عمل خارج وداخل المنزل ومساعدتهم في إنشاء مشاريعهم الصغيرة بالتعاون مع مؤسسات شريكة مثل صندوق المشروعات الصغيرة والمتناهية الصغر لتمويل مشاريعهم. أما ورش العمل التوعوية فهي تقدم في موضوعات تتعلق بالأسرة مثل مكافحة ختان الإناث وصحة المراهقين وتنظيم الأسرة ومكافحة العنف القائم على النوع الاجتماعي بالتعاون مع صندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان ومؤسسة اتجاه. كما أعمل مدربة في مجال الصحة الإنجابية في هذه الموضوعات. كما أشغل منصب نائب رئيس صندوق مكافحة وعلاج الإدمان والتعاطي بمحافظة الأقصر لأنني مهتمة جدًا بهذا الموضوع وأدرك خطورة التأثير السلبي للمخدرات على مجتمعي. نقوم بحملات توعية عن مخاطر التدخين والمخدرات، ونقوم بتوعية الناس في كافة الأماكن المتاحة مثل المدارس والجامعات والجهات الحكومية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني عن هذه المخاطر ونحدد أفضل طريقة للتقدم للعلاج في مراكز العزيمة للتأهيل التي يديرها الصندوق وهي خريجة برنامج القيادة للزوار الدوليين

Monica Adel - Member at Alumni Engagement committee

She is a student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She is a graduate of the Access 10 Program and has gained extensive experience working with various civil society organizations such as Zewail Academy, Save, SaPioneerve, CO.CHANCE, and Space E. Through her involvement in civil society work, she has had the opportunity to develop numerous skills, including teamwork, self-development, and communication skills. She has also completed several training courses in human resource management, content creation, voice-over, and more.

Fathia El-Dakhakhni Member at the Projects Committee

She is a journalist and lecturer at Alexandria University. She has held the position of Director of the Al-Masry Al-Youm website. She has interests in heritage preservation, archaeology, culture, and defending women’s and children’s rights. She currently writes for Al-Masry Al-Youm and Asharq Al-Awsat newspapers. Internationally, she served as the Regional Representative for Radio Netherlands Worldwide in the Middle East and worked as an assistant trainer and translator with the RNTC for training on producing media campaigns to combat extremism. She currently works as a trainer for Google’s “I’m Remarkable” initiative, which aims to empower women and marginalized groups. She also provides various training sessions for media students in the fields of new media, website management, and preparing journalistic campaigns. She has published two books and a short documentary film. She is a 2009 IVLP graduate.

Magdy Aboelyamin Amin - Member at projects committee

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Business Administration from Helwan University., he served as the Director of Loans for the Luxor Branch office at the Upper Egypt Association for Education and Development, where he also holds the position of Deputy Director of the Microfinance Program. Magdy has extensive experience in youth education and development projects. He is the Director of the Youth Education Project to Support Entrepreneurship and Employment, a partnership with POSITIVE PLANET. Additionally, he has volunteered for the Taala Project, implemented by the Association Noor el Islam and the Coptic Catholic Diocese of Luxor, supported by the CRS organization. He has served as the Currently : Area Manager for I The Egyptian Foundation, focusing on providing and implementing an integrated approach to support poor and marginalized families in Luxor and Qena Governorate. Magdy is an alumnus of the Cultural Exchange at Digital Economic Program (Virtual) in 2021 and the NGO Management Program (In Person) in the United States in 2022. His dedication to enhancing youth services and fostering tolerance through various projects highlights his commitment to community development and intercultural exchange.

مجدي يحمل درجة البكالوريوس في التجارة وإدارة الأعمال من جامعة حلوان. كان يعمل كمدير لقروض مكتب فرع الأقصر في جمعية صعيد مصر للتعليم والتنمية، كما يشغل منصب نائب مدير برنامج التمويل الأصغر في الجمعية يمتلك مجدي خبرة واسعة في مشاريع التعليم وتنمية الشباب.كان يشغل منصب مدير مشروع تعليم الشباب لدعم ريادة الأعمال والتوظيف، وذلك بالتعاون مع منظمة "بلانيت بوزيتيف". بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تطوع في مشروع "تعالى" الذي تم تنفيذه بواسطة جمعية نور الإسلام والأبرشية الكاثوليكية القبطية بالأقصر

، بدعم من منظمة يعمل مجدي مدير منطقة لمؤسسة انا المصرى و التى تهدف إلى تقديم وتنفيذ نظام متكامل لدعم الأسر الفقيرة والمهمشة في محافظتي الأقصر وقنا مجدي هو خريج برنامج التبادل الثقافي في الاقتصاد الرقمي (افتراضي) لعام 2021 وبرنامج إدارة المنظمات غير الحكومية (شخصيًا) في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لعام 2022. تبرز مساهماته في تعزيز خدمات الشباب وتعزيز التسامح من خلال مشاريع متنوعة التزامه بالتنمية المجتمعية والتبادل الثقافي

Shaza Ismail - Member at mentoring and evaluation committee

She is a professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Department of Tourist Guidance, at Helwan University. She holds a specialized PhD in Coptic Antiquities and Arts, jointly supervised by Helwan University and Swansea University in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the international project “Sustainable Development in Higher Education” funded by Niras in Sweden and South Africa. Shaza Ismail is a Fulbright program alumna of 2006 and received a scholarship from the Art History Department at Temple University in 2007. She participated in the Fulbright program again as a faculty member at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia in 2012.

شذى هي أستاذة في كلية السياحة والفنادق، قسم الإرشاد السياحي، في جامعة حلوان. تحمل درجة الدكتوراه المتخصصة في الآثار والفنون القبطية، التي تمت إشرافها عليها بشكل مشترك من جامعة حلوان وجامعة سوانسي في المملكة المتحدة. هي عضو في مشروع دولي بعنوان "التنمية المستدامة في التعليم العالي" الممول من Niras في السويد وجنوب أفريقيا. شذى إسماعيل هي خريجة برنامج فولبرايت لعام 2006 وحصلت على منحة من قسم تاريخ الفن في جامعة تمبل في عام 2007. شاركت مرة أخرى في برنامج فولبرايت كعضو هيئة تدريس في كلية راندولف ماكون بولاية فيرجينيا في عام 2012

Ahmed Ibrahim - Member at mentoring and evaluation committee

He is an expert in education, vocational training, and employment. He worked as a project manager at Dawar El-Amal in Egypt for cooperation and development. He is a graduate of the Fulbright Community College Initiative (CCI) program for 2008-2010, earning a Master’s degree in Social Innovation for Sustainable Development from the Torino School of Development in Italy. Ahmed is also a graduate of the Virtual Exchange Academy for the year 2021, part of the Stevens Initiative in the United States. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Tennessee in the United States, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Education from Egypt.

أحمد هو خبير في التعليم والتدريب المهني والتوظيف. عمل كمدير مشروع في دوار الأمل في مصر للتعاون والتنمية. حاصل على درجة الماجستير في الابتكار الاجتماعي للتنمية المستدامة من مدرسة تورينو للتنمية في إيطاليا، كجزء من برنامج فولبرايت للمبادرة الجامعية المجتمعية للفترة من 2008 إلى 2010. أحمد هو أيضًا خريج أكاديمية التبادل الافتراضي لعام 2021، كجزء من مبادرة ستيفنز في الولايات المتحدة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يحمل درجة البكالوريوس في علوم الحاسوب من ولاية تينيسي في الولايات المتحدة، ودرجة البكالوريوس في العلوم والتربية من مصر

Al- Amir Mohsen - Member at mentoring and evaluation committee

He is a business development consultant and a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. Over the course of 20 years, he has been involved in numerous development projects focusing on sustainability, fair trade principles, and women’s empowerment. He has collaborated with international organizations inside and outside Egypt, as well as governments and non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank Group, Islamic Development Bank, among others. Prince Mohsen has led projects in development, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, and trade.

Hagar is a passionate and accomplished professional with a deep love for the English language and cultural exchange. Currently in her fourth year at the Faculty of Arts, Department of English Language and Translation. She stands out for her exceptional language skills and academic achievements. Her journey into the world of English began with the transformative 'Access' scholarship, which not only honed her linguistic abilities but also ignited a lifelong passion for teaching and translation. In her professional life, she excels as a telesales representative at Insource Contact Centre, where she seamlessly communicates with clients from diverse backgrounds, including those from the U.S. and U.K. Her ability to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps is a testament to her skills and dedication. Beyond this, she is a committed HR and trainer member at Life Makers Foundation, where she contributes to the development and empowerment of others. Her experience is further enriched by her volunteer work as a translator and auditor for the EG U.S. Cultural Exchange alumni website. With a history of impactful roles, including as an English instructor at IT House in Aswan and a member of the Mentoring and Evaluation Committee at the EG-U.S. Cultural Exchange Alumni Council, she continues to make significant contributions to every project she undertakes.
