The U.S. Embassy in Cairo sends approximately 12 students to the United States annually to participate in the Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders (SUSI Students).
This program lasts six weeks and is designed for undergraduate students aged 18 to 25.
Students participate in interactive classroom activities, lectures, site visits, and workshops at U.S. universities to gain a better understanding of the United States and improve their leadership skills.
The Student Leaders Program focuses on leadership and civic engagement for competitively selected undergraduate and graduate students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

TechGirls is a three-week program in July of each year that sends three Egyptian girls, aged 15-17, to the United States to learn more about technology.
This program targets girls from the Middle East and encourages them to pursue higher education and careers in technology.
This program provides students with an opportunity to live and work in the United States during their university summer break.
The program consists of up to four months in the United States working in seasonal/temporary jobs.
Typical host employers include resorts, restaurants, and amusement parks.
Participants will share daily experiences with Americans and other international students.
This program aims to build ties between international and American youth athletes and cultivate participants’ leadership skills.
Egyptian student-athletes will spend the first week working with U.S. coaches and playing football (soccer) with student-athletes from around the world.
During the second week of the program, participants will focus on STEM education and English classes.
The Harnessing Innovation through Virtual Education for Enhanced Results (HIVER) program matches U.S. university faculty with their counterparts in MENA universities.
This year, the HIVER program will have six Egyptian students and three Egyptian university staff.
For over a decade, the U.S. Department of State and the University of Tennessee’s Center for Sport, Peace, and Society have partnered to implement the Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP) to empower women through sports. GSMP is a five-week, immersive mentorship program that matches international sportswomen from private, government, and non-profit sectors with leading executives from America’s top sports-driven organizations.
Through this program, women learn the skills needed to advance into decision-making positions and create pathways for other women and girls to pursue sports as a passion, profession, educational vehicle, or career.
The Stevens Initiative is a virtual exchange program that connects young people (18 years or older) from around the world for learning and collaboration, immersing them in digital spaces to gain practical skills and build friendships along the way.
Between the Lines is a component of the International Writing Program that brings young writers to the University of Iowa for creative writing study and cultural interaction.
Students live in a dorm on the University of Iowa campus along with university-trained counselors. Sessions include literature seminars and language-specific creative writing workshops taught by faculty who are renowned writers in their own right.
EducationUSA Academy Connects is a two-to-four-week summer academic program that provides college preparatory content including specialized courses in various fields, English and academic writing courses, virtual tours of diverse college and university campuses, and cultural activities for 15-17 year old students.
The program also aims to prepare international youth to pursue higher education in the United States by providing participants with the information, skills, and experience needed to submit strong applications for admission to U.S. colleges and universities.
Sport for Community (S4C) promotes access and opportunity for people with disabilities through sport. S4C is a five-week, immersive mentorship that matches international leaders working in disability/adaptive sports with professionals from America’s top organizations in this field. Participants create action plans to initiate or expand programs that increase sports opportunities for people with disabilities at home and abroad.
S4C supports the U.S. foreign policy goal of promoting human rights and removing barriers to create a world in which people with disabilities enjoy dignity and full inclusion. Up to 18 international candidates will be selected to participate in the month-long program.
The program also aims to prepare international youth to pursue higher education in the United States by providing participants with the information, skills, and experience needed to submit strong applications for admission to U.S. colleges and universities.
